Broke A Bolt Remove the Rear Caliper
When I was removing the right rear caliper the top bolt broke while I was trying to losen it. There is nothing left to grab onto either. It's on the 95 T5R. I think I could drill it out and tap the threads if I could get to it, but that's the problem. How hard would it be to get the part that the caliper bolts into off so I could drill out the hole? Looking at the Haynes manual, I belive this is called the stub axle and it looks to be held on by four allen bolts.
I can not believe how rusty this car is underneath. I acutally replaced the front rotors just because everything was to rusty. Then the back ones were still squealing so I decided to do them too. The I busted the bolt. [/align]

RE: Broke A Bolt Remove the Rear Caliper
I got it out.
My son in law, who is a mechanic, came over and we took the the whole assmebly off as one piece. Then I was able to drill a small hole in the center of the bolt. Then I broke and easy-out in the hole and had to drill it out. Easy-outs are useless! Then we soacked it in penetrating oil while we ate dinner. Then Nick hammered a small torx bit socket into the hole and we were able to losen it with that in there.
What a pain and all I was doing was changing the brake pads. When we were taking the four allen bolts out to remove the whole assembly we were afraid one of them was going to break too. They were tight the whole way out.

RE: Broke A Bolt Remove the Rear Caliper
Hi Jim,
I somehow knew you would be able to get it out.
I hate it when a bolt breaks off, it ruins an entire day or more[8D].
I haven't been able to check out the forum as often as I used to, as I'm stuck with dial-up until DSL goes through, which would be another few days.
Anyway, good job.
