buy a volvo with 400,000 km?
The link was useless.
You buy what you can afford. Most cars, well some cars can last forever if they are property maintained. My car is pretty nice and has 220,000 miles (about 355,000 KM). It's all about condition. If the car is ragged out you could be looking at a money pit if you don't wrench yourself.

I bought a money pit but it only cost me 300 to start out. I've dropped a lot of stuff into it but I like it and I'm approaching 300K miles (482,000 KM).
It's all about what condition it's in that you can see and what condition the mechanicals are in that you can't
Just because someone shampooed the interior and hung an air freshener in it before they put it up for sale doesn't mean they ever changed the oil or flushed the transmission. Maintenance records are good but they don't protect you from an owners 18 yr old son who beats the living crap out of it. Just ask my dad, I was a nightmare on brakes. The things I did to his car.
