Default A/C is kind of cold, gauge is at 25psi

I finished doing the blower resistor on my wagon. There must of been some Freon in there, compressor would kick on and the system lines would be cool. Temps were in the 70s and car vent temps were around 55. with settings at max cool as per manual, It felt mildly cool. I put in two 12oz cans of refrigerant. Today outside temps were in the low 80s today, my car vent temp went down to 42 degrees on idle and gauge was reading 23-25psi. On the highway it dipped to 38 degrees.

Would this be the best I can get it with my simple tools?

I envy my buddies 95 Navy blue 850 sedan. I sat in his car last week and he had his A/C on with the blower set on #3. I swear you can freeze a porterhouse steak on the vent. He told me he spent $154 dollars at a repair shop getting it serviced and recharged. His car has a little more mileage than mine and I don't know if he had any other work done prior but.......Man, his car is a freezer compared to mine.

Would the final 2 ounces of R134 Freon get my car colder?

Maybe, depends on the condition of all the ac parts. The dryer may be bad. My car will send you to the hospital with frost bite.

There's a lot more to A/C systems than just adding freon. The A/C shop has the equipment and the training (hopefully) to do the job correctly. That will make the difference between, it kinda works, and it working properly as it was designed. Not to mention the degradation of the life of the system components too (when not properly serviced).

Depending on the temperature at the time of the reading here is a chart telling you what the approximate low side gauge should read.

Thanks Rob, Kiss and G, I'm gonna leave it alone. I actually have the vacuum pump and gauges from Harbor Freight so its a crap shoot if they are accurate. Looking at the chart I should have been closer to 30 or 35psi but it never went over 25. Compressor cycles on and off still and the car inside maintains around 40 degrees. If I hit tomorrows pick 3 lottery numbers I'll take it into the shop and get it serviced with the synthetic Freon.

Im gonna take pics of my car once I clay and buff out the paint

Thanks guys

Looking forward to the pics.

I don't think those cans give enough pressure. Maybe safer for the public that way.
