Default A/C leak

Yes, I know that the first thing to do is to check the evaporator and all that, but I really can't afford the $1000+ bill associated with a replacement. I've replaced the compressor (bearings were going) with a brand-new OEM unit plus I've replaced the receiver/dryer. I'm only going through 1 can twice a summer so the leak isn't too bad and am wondering if there is a good system sealer I could try to plug up the evap leak. If not, I can deal with replacing the 143a twice a year for 20 bucks. I've been reading about Duracool, but I wanted to check with the group before I did anything.

suppose to be some kind of sealer you can buy at like Autozone or Kragen (whatever your local parts store is) for 19.99. Its a small can and seals A/C system's metal piping, etc. I suppose you can try that...you can rip apart your whole dash as one piece...I believe 2 bolts on each side then 4 or 5 bolts under the wiper cowl. Just do it the right way if you ask me.

I would not try the Sealer.

I made a Post about replacing the evaperator. Look top of the 850 section.

Yea yea yea.. I know. there's problems with that: I do not have another vehicle to drive while I'm working on it and I do not have a garage to work in. This is why I was thinking about a sealer or something.

The sealer might Clog the orfice tube and cause High pressure leading to more problems.

I have just had the sealer put through my system. Can I expect bad things to happen ?
Should I keep a look/ear out for something in particular ?

After I had the "sealer" installed it sounds as though the compressor is shaking itself to bits on start up ! Only lasts 10-20 seconds but sure doesn't sound good.
I thought it may have been the cooling fan but now think its the compressor....have I stuffed the system ?
Comments please

Sounds like the compressor is bad.

Once its going its working fine
Its just the initial start that worries me
Sounds as tho the belt is slipping as well
Aslo causes nasty shuddering
Concerned it might be doing damage to other bits
Going on a trip soon and thinking its not going to last the distance

You might want to have a shop look it over before traveling.
