A/C no cold 850 GLT 1996
Hi there,
My A/C is no longer cold. Can anyone help me to understand what is the first step that I should take in order to make it work again?
I would really appreciate a suggestion. It is getting hot.

Thanks for the reply. I understand but I was thinking whether this could be something I could do by myself to save a bit of money. I was thinking to add the gas in the system as a first step but I am not even sure how to do it and/or you need any special tool to do it.
Thank you. Do you think I could buy the Freon and fill it up by myself? Or perhaps it takes some equipment/knowledge to refill it and therefore I should take it to the shop?
Thank again,
Stefano
Thank again,
Stefano

I used this kit to get started:
R134A Kit
Now I just buy 2 cans a year for around $6 each, and reuse the hose and gauge that came with the original kit.
The garages will charge you an arm and a leg to recharge. I recharge mine into the yellow range, have been for the last few years, to get the compressor to stop clicking on and off and run continuously. So far it's still working fine, it just needs a top off once a year.

My son does the same thing as wheelsup. I tried it on mine and it needed another charge in less than a week, so I took it to a guy who specializes and A/C's and had the evaporator replaced. That was two years ago and the cost was $1300. That car has the best A/C of my three cars now though.
