I want to replace/add a cabin air filter in my car. From what I have read the 95 did not have a filter so can anyone tell me if the IPD filter adapter just drops in or do I need to do some modifications?

 

No mods needed. A lot of 850's have them. You should check first.

95s had them...my 94 does...

 

Someone must have added it to your '94; my 95 850 does not have one...

 

That's the write up I was reading it just wasn't clear to me if I had to do any modifications or not.

 

No modifications needed, you take out the existing plastic surround, add the filter housing and add the filter. All just clips in.

It wasn't fitted as standard to the earlier models, it was an option. I think the higher spec ones got it though.

my '96 R didn't come with one had to get one myself!
i mean, seriously, how much more expensive could it have been for Volvo to make it factory!

 

I have 3 95's, none of them had it. Had to add it to all of them

 

I added one to the yellow sedan I had. I don't think any of the pre '97's had them as standard equipment.

 

my 850 AWD has one. Im pretty sure it wasnt added either.

 

I had a chance to check today and my car has a filter although it is so plugged up it looks more like a large brick.
