Default Can overfilling the oil cause a leak?

I just got my '95 turbo wagon back from the shop for an oil change and when I got home I noticed that it's leaking quite a bit of oil. I checked the dipstick and it seems to have been overfilled. I hadn't noticed a leak before the change. Is the overfill what's causing it, and is there anything I should do?

Thanks

Yes... If it's more than a 1/2 a quart. Usually bad seals and clogged PVC system does as well.

As for the shop, I would call them and let them know you NOW have a problem. If it is leaking and you are still OVER FILLED maybe they will help you.

I probably would not drive the car until the oil level is down to where it should be. If I'm not mistaken you can blow the rear main seal when overfilled with oil. Not sure if that's true, but fairly certain I heard that somewhere.

It's not hard at all to jack it up and let some oil out. But I would call the shop who changed the oil before doing anything. You go messing with it and they may not be liable if they did in fact cause damage.
