Default Car steering to left.. tyre wear..

I;ve got a problem thats not been resolved yet..

Initially the car was pully quite a lot to the left and there was irregular tyre wear and the steering to keep center was over to the right.

I had the tracking checked and was told it was fine..

Problem didn't go away so I had it checked elseware and was told it was of and had it adjusted as i was told it was of.

However after the adjustment whilst there was an improvement the wheel not sits to the left and the car still somewhat pulls left.

Had the tracking checked a third time (by another garage) but was informed it is fine and shown it was fine in the equipment.

So Im not sure where to start looking myself.

Both Drop link bars were changed (due to them being old and faulty) and I recently did the brakes as well (they needed doing) , that was all fine but never cured the problem.

Ive checked bushes but all seem fine, not sure what else to check.

All new tyres as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions where to look next?

Hello mate,

Tracking meaning wheel alignment, I believe? It seems like it was definitely off in the first place. Did you have it done at a Volvo garage? The front suspension on 850 is of generic McPherson, but I doubt if generic garages can calibrate the rears, as the rears are of unique delta-link set-up. Did you get a sheet of paper from the alignment machine? The paper tells you whether the wheels are at correct geometric angles.

Did you do the brakes with OEM parts? I hope you did. Generic aftermarket parts can play lots of dirty tricks (except in the case of A/C evaporator, where the OEM was actually defective).

It may be the parking brake that is slightly binding on one side, or one of the brake piston seals that is weak and not pulling back the pistons. Also, make sure the car is not loaded unequally, double-check on the tyre pressure (I believe they're probably fine) and watch for tread wear to make sure that the tyres are wearing equally. Or, this is unlikely but there may be air in only one side of the brake lines.

Wait till other members reply with other possibilities I may have omitted.

Cheers,

JPN

ok thanks ill check those out..

The steering wheel seems to be more out than the actual pulling to the left (ie if you place the wheel central it will steer right, and naturally pull back to about 11:00)
