CAT/Muffler Replacement Suggestions
Alright well another "help me out" type of thread out of me sadly.
Yesterday I noticed my exhaust note sounded a bit deeper/louder and I just chaulked it up to me never really noticing it. Then later that day it became very clear that something was up when the db level shot up through the roof! When I got home I looked underneath and seen the CAT hanging down doing a faux straight pipe song and dance.
Just curious if you guys have any suggestions on which CAT/Muffler combo to buy. I have a 97' Wagon Base Model, hence non-turbo which according to some sites effects my purchases. I dont mind noise as I'm sure some/most/all will ask if I do. I used to own a Rx-8 before this (accident took it away
)with a Borla exhaust and it was loud when it wanted to be but sullen below certain RPM's.

Ok having slight problems finding a muffler. So since this is my first well "Custom Job" figured I'd run it by people who know about this car (I'm still learning go me lol). Since the spot of the OEM muffler is in the middle of the car and the shape/dimension of it is well restrictive as all f'ing hell, is it and would it be advisable to run a straight pipe (if you will) from the cat to the rear of the car and have the new muffler placement be just before the bumber? I'm thinking of hanging the muffler where the stock tailpipe is. This is my logic "Flow Equals More HP", attempting to put a uni-muffler in the OEM spot will cause me to do some tricky piping and have a few 90 degree bends.
Thankfully I have a Advance Auto Parts store down my street so whoohoo lol

NAs get loud fast, but yes...at higher RPMs... the more flow the better.
From the header pipe you can get a universal cat and run a pipe to a rear muffler.....
I would run with no rear muffler and do a high flow cat, with a nice center muffler so it is not that loud in the car.
