Default change the timing belt at 11 years 56,000 miles?

should i change the timing belt of a 97 850 (56,000 miles) i recently bought with no service records or wait until it hits 70,000 miles?

It should be replaced every 7 years or 70,000 miles.
If it is still Original I would change it out soon.

Your welcome. I would be worried about the pulleys before the belt having an issue.
Thats why I would replace it asap.

I suggest changing both the timing belt and the serpentine accessory belt, the associated pulleys with both, and lastly the tensioners associated with both.

My car had a recent timing belt job. I don't know if they did pulleys, but I do know they did do the acc. belt as well, along with other maintenance (New LCA's FTW!!)

For you, I would go ahead and change it. Its not too big of an expense.

The layout for the 850 doesn't look much harder than my SC300. but the 2JZ engine is inline RWD and right up front for timing maintenance. Parts are more expensive for the SC than the 850.

I always try to do the pulleys as long as I am in there
