Default Turbo

Hi: I have a 97 850 T-5 Wagon that has about 75 thousand miles on it. The vehicle is dealer maintained as I use it for business and travel now almost six hundred miles a week since June. This is all long distance highway mileage and sometimes at speeds of 130 MPH. Yesterday, my CHECK ENGINE light came on, and now the vehicle runs ok at normal speeds, but when you kick into pass and the TURBO kicks in, it sort of bucks, hesitates, and attempts to go, sometimes it will, other times it will not. It is almost like it is a carb that "bogs" down. Any ideas???

I agree. Leave your place early.

Visit a local AutoZone or any auto parts shop that does free diagnostic service and have the codes pulled & give us the description on the scanner, if you would. That is the quickest way for us to help you. Without codes, we can only do so much.

Will wait for your reply.

Thanks for the response guys and just for the record, I am not a nut job, there is a section of rural road that cuts through "Yehaw Junction" Florida, State Road 60, (real name) and it is a straight 25 mile stretch of flat opened temptation. I have ZR rated tires and love my 850 and of course safety
always does come first! I will head to Auto Zone and get the codes, did not know they did that. Will let you know. Thanks, SJC

Hello SJC,

I understand what you mean, 850 is a wonderful car when pushed.

Yes, some auto parts shop has OBD-II scanner and can do a free diagnostic. I usually buy some consumables such as a quart of oil, after having done a diagnostic but that's just me.

I wish you luck, will wait for your findings.
