Default Climate control issues

I have a 97 850 T5, and My ac compressor clutch will not engage. My car is equipped with the automatic climate control. Besides the ac not working, when i start up my car, sometimes the lights on the ac button and the recirculate button will blink for 10 or 15 seconds. Does anyone have an idea as to what this means?

I looked, my car is a 97, I have obdII, no jumper box under the hood. I hooked in my scanner and no codes came up at all. Also, the lights only flash on startup maybe once a week or even less frequently than that.

so then that would mean that your issue comes and goes. this might be a issue with the clutch or compressor.

none the less if ur clutch isnt working turn on the A/C and check voltage to the clutch connector. if you have voltage its ur clutch/compressor. if you dont have voltage its an electrical issue.

Ok, I will check when i get some more free time on the weekend. Off the top of your head, do you know about how much amperage it should take to turn the clutch on? If theres no voltage going to the compressor, I'll fuse a separate 12 volt power source and try it like that.

if your going to go that route, just run a temp jumper and try it. and if u want to keep it that way (dont recommended what so ever) then put in a fuse.

i have a feeling its now the wiring in the car, but its a cheep easy place to check.

A generic scanner will not read A/C codes.

Just an update: AC is fixed. I used a paperclip and jumped the pressure sensor on one of the AC lines and the compressor kicked on instantly. Took the jumper out and hooked the sensor back onto the line and the AC has been working fine ever since. Must of been dirty or slightly corroded but I am glad that nothing needs to be repaired. Thanks for your help guys.
