Clunk while idling
1996 Volvo 850 GLT

After I have driven the car for between 30-60 minutes there is a clunk that will occur somewhere in the engine bay while sitting and idling. I don't know if this is possibly a problem when the fans are engaging or possibly the alternator. The transmission has never given me any problems. Shifts into each gear fine and never slips or stutters no matter how hard I get on it. Any help would be appreciated.

It could be anything; finding the source of a noise is one of the hardest tasks, and not being able to see it makes it even harder.
I would check the engine mounts but see if you can hear from Moderator Tech.

I get the same clunk. Never does it once I start moving.
My tensioner definately is on its way out, so good chance these guys are correct!
thanks for the hint, I have been wondering what the noise is for as long as I have had the car (about a year)
