Default clutch disc question

Doing an 850t 5 speed swap, with an R clutch. My clutch disc isn't marked as to which side faces the engine. The center casting of the disc (where the transmission input shaft engages) sticks out farther on one side than the other. I assume this longer side goes toward the transmission, to more fully engage the input shaft. Can someone verify this assumption, or correct me if I'm wrong?

Thanks

Spring assembly towards the transmission.

Default Clutch....DMF?

I have a feeling this is one of those things thats going to fall into the category of "learning experience". I hate those. They're often expensive.

So I'm doing a 5 speed conversion on my 850t. I'm mounting the clutch, and realize I've got some issues. As mentioned, the disc isn't marked, and there's no springs.

Then I realize the pressure plate won't bolt to the flywheel. Obviously it's designed for a flywheel with a stepped edge, not a flat face.

So I'm guessing this is a clutch for a dual mass flywheel, right? When I'm done with this swap, I'm going to be doing one on my '98 V70, and it seems I inadvertently ordered a clutch kit for that car rather than my 850. The clutch I got is listed for '97-07 V70 5 speed with the 2.3 turbo.

I further assume the '98 came with a dual mass flywheel, which I was unaware of at the time. If it does have the DMF, I'm going to want to swap it for a single mass, right?

So as learning experiences go, I now have what I presume is an expensive paperweight. I don't suppose there's a single mass flywheel that comes with a stepped edge that I could then use this clutch on, is there?
