Hey guys...I have a '96 850 with 227k. Don't know if this is coincidence or not but, I just replaced the EVAP purge valve to fix code P0445. After replacing, I started the car and let it run to make sure the code didn't come back up. It was running fine for about 10 minutes then it started idling really rough and had white smoke coming out of the exhaust. The CEL came back on and was now pulling codes P1310 and P0305. Would the purge valve have done something to cause this? I disconnected it to see if it still ran rough and it does. I replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor about 30k ago.

 

UPDATE: Did some more research and saw that one of the issues may be if you are low on fuel. I was (low fuel light wasn't on yet but, was pretty close). Anyways, put about half a tank in, cleared out the codes and drove for about 10 miles. So far, no codes and engine felt smooth again. Hopefully that was it. Will keep you posted.

Maybe because of low fuel plus a new purge valve? Also, wondering if the ECM may have had to 'relearn' since it now has an operational EVAP system? Have driven it about 35 miles since filling up and no problems and no codes. Engine idling fine and feels normal.

Taking the state emissions test this coming Saturday so, hopefully we pass.
