My mechanic said I have a bad "Computer Chip" in my car. I pulled the chip to see if the car would run better with it removed, but now the car won't start at all. PLEASE HELP

 

I have the chip right here next to me and it looks fine.

 

What are you talking about? The ECU? Of course it wont run if you pull the brain out of the car. You wouldn't function too well if someone did that to you either.

 

I'm not trying to run anybody - I don't street race anymore. I just want the car to start.

I think I can safely say we all understand you want your car to start and run.

I think I can safely say none of us understand what you are describing when you say "chip"


If you pulled something out of the car and it doesn't start, put it back in. Does it start now ??

The first picture is of a chip for an early GM that's replaceable.
The second picture is of an 850's ECU
The third picture is of the "chip", which is located inside the ECU you say you pulled out or at least what all of us picture in our minds when you say you pulled the chip. By the way, the chip in a Volvo if you did try to remove it would need to be desoldered as they are not designed to be replaceable easily. Actually they aren't designed to be replaced at all but I have seen one or two companies that market chips for our 850's.
