Cost of a new alternator/Serpentine/Drive belt
#2
Mine was approx $230
I got a rebuilt Bosch alt for about $230 with core.
I do mine at every 10 years/100,000 miles as a precautionary measure (the original unit failed after about 14 years/130,000 miles). I was stranded in the middle of an intersection at night and it was not a safe situation.
When installing the new alt, make sure the battery is fully charged.
I do the serp at every 3 years/30,000 miles unless sooner replacement is required.
I would only use the OEM long belt (Continental Tech; mine was made in the U.K). The long belt has more contact surface area for the alt and the OEM belt has criss-cross groove for better grip.
