Could someone please tell me?
Could someone please tell me that with all the thought, engineering and many other warning systems that went into the mighty Volvo 850 ......why did they not employ a system that would warn you if the pcv system was clogging or when the crankcase pressure got to high or have a pressure relief valve of some sort????
Of course we all know that a leaking rms & other seals cost big money to have repaired or a lot of your own labor, or reduces the value of the car dramatically. I mean there is a warning light that tells you that you have a light out. Sorry for the rant, but just looking for your feelings toward this subject.

Yea, after 35 years of working on cars and trucks of all kinds I would'nt have imagined that a clogged pcv could take out such a great engine.
I've owned the car since 1996 with 20,000 miles on it and performed the maintance that I was aware of. Now with 200,000 miles all the seals are leaking. In it's entire life so far (outside of normal maintence) I've only had to do a lower control arm on the passenger side and the auto trans. shift switch to get back reverse lights! I think that this is increadible!
