Cruise Control Not Working - Turbo Boost Guage Not Working

I was having a different issue with the cruise in my wagon. It would work, then not work, work, then not work, then it finally stopped all together about a month ago. Sometimes I would be driving down the freeway with it on and it would just kick off and not turn back on.
So this doesn't even make sense. The first thing I did was feel and look at the vacuum lines at the cruise pump on the bottom of the battery trey. They looked great. Next I replaced the cruise controller next to the fuel pump relay, that didn't help. So I decided that I would go through the trouble shooting steps in the 850 PDF for the cruise. I read through it and the next step I decided to take was to check the accelerator pedal vacuum ball and the vacuum line there. As soon as I dropped the kick panel and looked at it I seen my problem. The linkage to the vacuum ball from the top of the accelerator pedal was disconnected. It has a linkage similar to the throttle body linkage and it was loose. When I snapped it in place it seemed worn like it would come loose easy and sure nuf it did. So I got some wire ties and supported it with that. Took the car around the block and it set and held 33 mph like it had to.
What I don't understand is, why would my cruise work at all with that disconnected? It has a swivel at the connection and what seems like a micro switch that makes a ground when you let off the gas. The grounded connection cuts the system off like the brake switch does. When the gas pedal is pressed the connection is lost and the cruise will set. What I don't understand is... why did my cruise work at all with that disconnected? Maybe there was certain times that it was making connection or my system has a problem that the pedal was not cutting it off. Maybe the control relay had something to do with it but I'm up and running again.
Another example of how reliable the components are. Bad vacuum like or linkage can cause it not to work and the other things that cost money work.

I have pulled a factory cruise system out of a wrecked 850T and have installed it into my 850 non turbo. It is all hooked up and working, but I notice there is two outlets on the pump under the battery tray. I assume it was for the turbo, but where should I route the hose if I dont have a turbo vehicle? I don't want to leave it off, it might suck dirt or water into the pump. I brought the hose that was on it home with me, any ideas where I should run it to?

Don't pay any attention to the red arrow. There are two switches. The lower one is the stoplight switch, the cruise is just above it.

Ok so the pic looks nothing like my cruise vacuum pump. I dont have a turbo. I tried capping off the second nozzle on the cruise pump, but it makes the cruise malfunction. When I press set it makes the car accelerate non stop.

Just a word of caution, if you decide for some reason to remove the brake pedal switch be very very very...did I say very?...very careful. The tabs are brittle and break very easy.
