Default It doesn't have a Turbo...

When I got my emissions inspection on my Volvo 850 GLT earlier this year, the print out says that my engine is a 2.3 litre turbo. In checking the original paperwork for the car and the VIN, it shows to be a 2.4 litre N/A. Why is the DMV getting it wrong? There is no turbo, intercooler, or turbo to intercooler downpipe in the engine compartment. No "whistling sound" when I shift gears. There are times I wish it was a turbo, but it's really not.

Have you checked to see if the emissions paperwork has the correct VIN from your car ??

Yes. it's the paperwork from the Emissions Station and it shows my correct VIN, but says that it's a 2.3 litre Turbo. It definitely isn't a turbo. I'd already have ordered an IPD stage 2 if it was, but alas, it's not. There would surely be a turbo gauge in the dash if it was.

You could always call them and ask.

I suppose I could. I think I'll just wait around for emissions testing next year and see if they get it right.

Also, if it is listed as a turbo and its not check with your insurance company, sometimes premiums will be higher for Turbos.
