1996 850 Turbo Sedan - 214877 miles. Car still runs like its brand new but in-dash CD player keep ejecting CD's right after I insert them? Could this be that it just needs cleaned? Also, should not that it mostly happens with burned CDs but does occassionally happen with retail CDs as well?? Anybody else experience this and have a fix? Thanks.

Try cleaning it first. If that doesn't work then you can look at changing.

 

Pretty easy to find one on e-bay for a reasonable price. I had the same problems with one of mine and I just put a changer in the glove box instead of replacing the head unit. Works great and now I have a six disk changer that plugged right in the existing head unit. We just have to push CDCHGR instead of CD to play a CD.

 

So Jim, the regular 6 CD changer that Volvo made will fit in the glove box? We bought one to put in my sons 850 for Christmas but I thought we would have to put it in the trunk. Sounds like we have an option.

 

They also made a unit for the glove box and that's the one I have in the white car. I don't think it's as big as the one in the trunk, but it is a Volvo changer. I bought it at a dealer for my 94 for $250 brand new. It was a limited time special when I was in there one day and I bought it as a Birthday gift for my wife. One year I bought a brand new receiver for the Home Theatre system for Christmas. I love the gifts I buy her. Pretty sure she bought me a KitchenAide mixer one year.
