The stereo in my wife's 850 started out not being able to play some newer CDs (skipping). Older CDs seemed to work just fine. Then all CDs started skipping. I tried to use a CD cleaner disc (the one with the little brush embedded in the disc, it just spit that one out. Now, any disc we insert, gets spit out within a few seconds. It will show song number 01 for a few seconds, then pop it out.

Can this be corrected? I hate to spend the money on a new player. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

More then likely, you will need to pull the unit and have it repair, which is going to cost more then getting an aftermarket unit or a used unit. If I were in your shoes, I would hit up the classified section and buy a used one. If you don't see one up there, post something in the wanted section. You should get a response in no time.
