Dashboard and Door Panels
Hello everyone,
Just wondering if anyone found a solution about the top dashboard curlying upat the corners. I thought about maybe take out the top half just enough to put a heat source like a hair dryer under the top half to make it softer and pushing on it a little beyond the normal 90 degree angle and cool it down rapidly. Some hair dryers have a cool button on it. I would try it myself, but mine is not that bad right now, only 1/4 in. out near the center vent and also the driver's vent and have no intention to take it apart for a long time sinceI fix theodometer and replace the lights in theinstrument panel before this occur to me. So if anyone would like to try it please let me know how it goes.
Also, has anybody try fixing the door panels? I thought about peeling the only parts that need to be redone and heat the vinyl and regluing it, but don't know what glue to use. Furthermore, would the peeling back the vinyl make it worst since the glue is old on the panel and if I peel it I'm afaid I would affect the surrounding areas that are okay and end up redoing the whole panel.
Thanks for looking, Max

RE: Dashboard and Door Panels
People don't usually have problems with the 850 door panels. Very common on the S/V70 though. I don't know if anybody has successfully fixed them or not. People have tried what you suggested, but never really heard anybody say it worked. Most people end up buying replacments from a junk yard.

RE: Dashboard and Door Panels
The top panels get very brittle over time as well.
I have a spare one and took it all the way apart. Meaning the air bag section that was peeling I had totally removed. Then used some Gorilla glue on it to glue it back down. I was doing little sections at a time and clamping them and letting it sit for a day or 2 then moving on to the next section. I pretty much had it all perfect but a corner of the plastic broke. If I put it all back together it will look a little funny but will look a ton better than what I have now.
