Default Defroster not clearing widshield

Hi all,
my defrost is not clearing my windshield fast enough. Ittake a few minutes for it to clear up. The heat is pounding. Sometimes it gets so hot Ihaveto turn the heat off or lower the temp.
Please help.

Have you tried you AC to see if it's working? When you turn the defroster on it turns the AC on to make it defrost faster. Acts a a dehumidifier.

2nd what Jim said.

Another possibility is the heater core weeping; are you loosing coolant? Does the inside of the windshield seem slimy? These are tell-tale signs of a leaking heater core (besides coolant on your carpet..).

Also if you live in a damp climate or have a lot of water in the car /floor mats (from snow on shoes, rain, etc) it can also cause it to take longer to defrost. I line in the Pacific Northwest, so I know..........
