Default The Details

I recently finished replacing the motor in my '96 850 Turbo...seems the car was abused more than the seller let on when I bought it...and there is a little detail item that I can't seem to iron out.

The car cranks and starts just fine, in fact I have been driving it for about a week now but I noticed that the car now idles around 1200-1500 and has been reving up to approx 2000 when I put it in park after a short hop.

How would I adjust this, or is there something that I connected wrong in the reassembly process?

When I was putting it back together many of my tags had been moved/removed so I had to rely on my memory(I have a mischevious 11 year old boy...ha, ha, ha) and the only thing that I really questioned was the fuel line connectors. I know that there is a feed line and a return line. Unfortunately Volvo decided to use the same style connector for both so...

The 'check engine' light does come on after the car has been started for about 15 seconds but there is no code stored in the ecu for me to retreive from the obd2.

Any suggestions would be a help.

I think you already posted this question, otherwise someone else is having the same issue. :-)

Anyway, more then likely, you have a vacuum leak that is causing you issue. I would check all the hoses to make sure none of them have cracked or become disconnected.

Thanks.

Now...do you know of a place where I can get the vacuum hose diagram for the T5 so I don't miss anything?

Look on the lower left corner of the underside of your hood. It should be there.

That would be me, same exact issue. I found the vacuum diagrams and pics here http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...hp?f=1&t=20229 helpful and realized I have a routing issue. Hopefully this solves it for both of us.

Fixed yeah hooo

Re-routed two vacuum hoses and still had a high idle but was thinking today about the throttle body and big duh . when I cleaned it I noticed that the plate didn't close all the way but with so many things to do I forgot about it.

I did look at the Idle adjustment screw but (don't really know how but) the blue locking compound was all lined up and looked like it was original so I thought it must be the factory setting. Wrong. Adjusted and now running perfect.

Hope this helps

Bob

Man.. that diagram sucks. Only after I saw it blown up on the computer, along with some color diagrams, could I make out what was really going on. Maybe it's my aging eyes.

I could not understand the diagram either. But then again my eyes are probably older than yours.

Meanwhile...back at the ranch...

Sorry guys, my work schedule had me working 16 hours a day for a while but now that I have recovered a bit I can read and reply to your suggestions.

Boxpin: I didn't see that particular sticker under the hood of my car, but thanks for posting a pic of yours. It will probably come in handy down the road.

Hopefully I will have the time to get into this soon so I can get my brick up to 100% again.

Thanks again for your suggestions.
