Default difficulty changing out flame trap

Greetings!
My 1995 850 non-turbo has been smoking like a factory so I thought to change out the flame trap. It's pretty easy to identify but I've run into a problem: the PVC tube that connects to the throttle body won't come off. I've slackened the ring but it still seems not to budge one bit!

What am I missing here? This should be really simple.

Thanks for any advice/ guidance you can offer.

Should be simple? I've changed it on a turbo twice but i'm not sure if the non turbo is the same. should be able to pull it out maybe some silicon spray would help

Usually they are baked in place almost like glue but if you run something around between the two they slip off nicely. Something like a small screwdriver or pick. Slide it between the two and work it back and forth. A little spray lube wouldn't hurt.

I usually twist the hose connection to break the seal loose. Then pull it apart.

Thank you all. I changed out the flame trap!

I do notice that my car is still smoking though. It burns through its oil every 2.5 weeks and goes low on coolant about every month. Any thoughts?
Thanks again!

Well ,,, headgasket pops to mind but I don't want to say it

So, do you see an place you might be leaking coolant, checked all the hose connections ?? Radiator seams ?? Do you smell anything "sweet" when you have the heater on ??
If you don't see anything you might want to get a loan of a cooling system pressure tester with the correct adapter for connecting to the threads on the reservoir to pressure test the system and see if anything "pops" out. Sorry, bad pun.

Do you have any oily residue in the reservoir ??

When you did the flame trap did you replace it with a new one and did you replace the hoses too ??
Did you clean out the passages in the block the black box connects to ??
If it's a turbo did you remove and clean out the PTC ??
Some times it does take a few miles for the smoking to subside. I don't understand that but I have read posts advising people to drive it some before getting concerned about the continued smoking.

And of course, there is always a small chance it's well worn and you just have more blow by than the PCV system can handle.
