I just replaced and programed my new keyless entry remote from volvo. I had lost my keys about five years ago and the new remote never did work. Last week I replaced my ignition switch and thought I would give it another try...Nothing, called volvo and they sold me the wrong one. They replaced it and it works fine,but I was almost sure when I would lock or unlock the doors the lights would blink and the horn would beep twice Am I right? If so maybe a bad relay somewhere?

 

I have had my 96 T5 for 17 years now and I can confidently say that no horn ever beeped, no lights ever blinked with the factory anti-theft system...

You must be thinking of another car

 

I don't mind the lights blinking but the horn churping is simply obnoxious.

 

My neighbor has a F350 with air horns that USED to chirp every time she hit the alarm... too many times coming home at 3am, now they wont chirp when she hits the alarm, and she cant figure out why.... only me and my wire cutters know why..

 

Ok thanks for the reply guys. Matt thats funny! RSPI I agree but I have a hard time finding my car in a big lot. I never remember where I parked.
