hows it goin guys, well when i go to take a turn and hit the signal it just lights up, no blink, and hazards dont work at all, for the first day i owned the car they worked fine, and every now and then they will work. any idea?

 

In older cars they had a blinker box. I'm not sure if the Volvo's have one or not, but what you are experiencing is exactly what would happen when the blinker went bad. Do you have the Owner's manual. I'm fairly certain there is a relay for this based on looking at the 850 Haynes manual, but I could not tell where it is.

 

Usually it is the hazard switch that is bad when it happens.
The switch is also the relay.

 

alright, ill check the switch out, it lights up but when i push it nothing happens. will it be obvious that the switch went bad or will i just have to replace it and find out?

 

Usually you have to replace it.

Some times pushing it in and out multiple times fast will make it work for a little while.
