The driver's door on my 850 won't open from the inside. I have to roll down the window and pull the outer handle to open the door. I removed the inner door panel and found a small wire about 3 inches long and hooked at both ends, hanging from the latch mechanism. I am trying to find out where the wire connects.

 

by wire do you mean the small rod? it should snap into a white clip on the latch assembly and run to the interior handle. Did you see a similar clip on the handle? You will need to pull off the door card - I bet you can find a youtube video showing how to replace the latch assembly to help guide you. There's a few pics on this in the Haynes manual so you may be able to find a PDF online too.

 

Yes, I meant the small rod. I hadn't been able to find any videos or info. I'll probably have to spring for a Haynes book.

 

I don't think you'll find a drawing of that in any book. Books are all about torque specs and how to fix brakes and all that normal maintenance type stuff. You may have to look at the door on the other side.
