Default ECC Codes

Can someone explain how to pull the codes on an Electronic Climate control unit? I have read some, but I'm still confused. It has the two flashing lights at start up.

I believe you will need special Volvo code reader or some good OBD 2 computer software with a cord.

On my 94 Turbo I pulled three codes for the climate control:
1. 1-2-4Driver’s side interior temperature sensor open circuit or shorted to 12 volts
2. 4-1-7 Passenger’s side interior temperature inlet fan seized
3. 4-1-8 No control signal to blower fan power stage

Has anyone experienced any of these issues before? Help is greatly appreciated in this heat wave!

Nr 2. is a "standard" error normally the driver side is also present.
Above the handles on the roof lining there are 2 small holes. Behind them there are 2 small fans which measure the temperature in the passenger comparment. They usually get clogged over the years, faster if there is a smoker in the car
Sometimes it helps to clean them (very carefully they are very sensitive), but there are a lot of reports where cleaning only helps for a short period of time.

Clear the errors and then see which one returns. Maybe there are some old errors.

I was out looking. Do you mean the two small holes near the rear of the car above the back handles? I am still a little confused.

My control is flashing and my car gets to cold. My guess is that I have a bad sensor or two. I guess I'll read the codes.

From VADIS:
1-2-4
Condition
If signal from passenger compartment temperature sensor is missing or shorted to 12 V, the control unit records the fault and stores the DTC.

Possible source
Open circuit in passenger compartment temperature sensor or wire, or short in wire to 12 V.

Fault symptom(s)
Fault warning to driver. LEDs by A/C and REC buttons flash for 20 sec.
The control unit substitutes the faulty signal with an estimated value based on the desired temperatures from both temperature switches and the sensor signal from the side which is working. If the sensor signal is faulty on both the driver's and passenger side, the control unit uses the temperature value from that side's temperature switch only.

4-1-8
Condition

If there is no control signal to the passenger compartment fan power stage, the control unit records the fault and stores the DTC.

Possible source
Open circuit in wire between control unit and passenger compartment fan power stage or internal fault in passenger compartment fan power stage.

Fault symptom(s)
Fault warning to driver. LEDs by A/C and REC buttons flash for 20 sec.

Substitute value
Control unit substitutes a preset value of 4 V equivalent to a 28% speed setting on the passenger compartment fan.
