Default ECC DIY power stage repair

Hi everyone,

I know that several people have had trouble with their ECC modules
and have had to replace them. I ran across the following article that
explains how to repair the power stage in the ECC(?) units. I don't
know if this also applies to the blower motor resistor in the MCC
units as I've never seen one.(I guess I should take mine out sometime
and see what is actually in there).
Maybe tech or someone familiar with these units can verify which
modules this applies to.

I haven't tried this so try it at your own risk.
Hopefully this will help someone save some money.

Best regards, John

That is only the blower motor resistor.
It is for both ECC and MCC systems. But some years had different ones.

All right! That part is used on a lot of cars. I bet you can get a
replacement transistor for a lot less than buying the whole resistor
module. I thought the resistor module was a special tapped power
resistor...that's what I get for assuming things.

Thanks, John
