Default ecc problem 850 turbo

I just got a 1994 850 turbo. For my daughter. 215,000 miles young. The fan comes on and off by itself. On high. No matter what setting you have it on. I replaced the resistor. Did not help. The AC and REC lights will blink. It will not go to defrost or other setting. Just blast you in the face. And to top it off. The heat will come on. I do not care if the AC works. I would like to have defrost and control of the fan. I live in Florida and it is hot. And I dont need the extra heat blasting me in the face.

I have very little background on car. I have only owned it for 1 month. Replace all the brakes. Checked throttle body it was clean. Changed spark plugs. I cleaned part of the oil trap system. Iam going to replace the oil trap. There is lots of oil around oil dip stick area. I need to check timing belt. There is also a ticking noise coming from the belt. The belt that the power stearing is on main belt. Any ideas on that one??? Any sugestions would be helpful. And other things I should check. Thanks

If the AC and REC lights are blinking, it means there is an error code stored in the cars diagnostics.

To check the codes, there is a black diagnostic box behind the right headlight with two covers, one marked A and one marked B.

1) Connect selector cable from diagnostic unit "A" to
terminal No. 1 of diagnostic unit "B", located behind right headlight.
(B1)
2) Turn ignition on. LED on diagnostic unit "A" should start
flashing. Each DTC (3-digits) consists of a series of flashes with a
short break between each series. DTCs are displayed in ascending
order.

Once the three digit code is displayed press the button next to the LED briefly and the next code will be displayed.

Let us know what codes come up and maybe we can help further.

I had the same problem with my 850t and it was just the fan that was stuck. Accessed it under the hood. Passenger side opposite dash board above fire wall.
