ecu upgrade for n/a car?
Not really. The amount of work it would take to make an NA Volvo "sportier" is really not worth the money or time. You would be better of selling the NA Volvo and spending the money on a turbo model. That is the best bang for the buck to be honest.
You know... Back when i had my N/A 850 a few years back and i was starting to get the bug to make it a little quicker. I would HATE to hear people say. meh meh meh Go get a turbo meh meh meh...
But now that i have one... I can't help but to say it...
Shop around. Don't just jump into one, Find a great deal... And... Get a turbo...

While N/A ECU upgrade exist for Volvo's they are not worth it for the money you'll pay for it. To only see gains of about 10-20Hp estimate. Which will feel like nothing on a N/A car.
I agree with everyone else in saying sell your N/A and buy a turbo. However since it seems like you want to keep your manual transmission that's going to be a problem.
You could try selling it without the transmission. A lot of people have done the manual swap and I will tell you this. It would be a lot easier to do a manual swap then it would be to find a manual turbo model.
