EGR bypass - ECU resistor mod - success!!
ok i think i bypassed the egr successfully. I first just disconnected the egr sensor after removing the valve and blocking off the exhaust port and drove around for a while. the cel didn't come on until i drove in egr conditions...1800-2200rpms for 30seconds or more. If i avoided that range, the cel wouldn't come on, but that got annoying driving above that all the time, not to mention killed gas mileage.
I then measured the resistance of the egr temp sensor at idle at it was 4.5 ohms. So i bought a 10 ohm 1/4watt resistor and i put it in the sensor connector, and the cel came on immediately on idle, like around 1 minute after the car turned on. At that point i didn't think any other configuration would work, and that a 96+ ecu had to be used. I had also bought a pack of 1k ohm and 4.7k ohm resistors at the time of buying the 10 ohm resistors, so i said what the hell might as well try the others. I put in the 1k ohm resistor 2 days ago, and the cel has not come on. I drove in constant egr conditions to try to trigger the cel, and the car wouldn't throw a cel. I even tried checking for codes that didn't trigger a cel, and there were none. So for the time being, i think we can successfully trick the ecu into thinking the egr is still connected by using a 1k ohm 1/4watt resistor and jumpering the sensor connector.
I'll keep you guys updated.

The sensor on the EGR is just a temperature sensor and might be playing a role in compters decision to open or close the valve. Doing this migt have make computer think that the conditions for opening the EGR are not met.

looks like i spoke too soon. I got a cel on a real cold startup
. I decided to connect the temp sensor back up and just let it hang near the egr exhaust port, and i'll see how that turns out.
I wanna try something with an egr valve, i can mod it to where it is still hooked up to the exhaust port, but is not gonna allow any air into the intake chamber, and still have the temp sensor hooked up to the exhaust. Does any one have an extra egr valve that they care to donate a broken egr valve so i can modify it to see if it works?

This would be great if it worked, BUT non-EGR ECUs are cheap enough to not bother.
haha unless you get a UK 850 T5M ecu then you have no EGR, SAS or second O2 sensor
I still think the resister should work, I hope something can be figured out because EGRs are worthless IMO...
