Engine compatibility 850 -vs- V70
As some of you know I lost my engine a week ago. I found a replacement from a 11/97 V70. My 850 was a 10/94. Is it the same block and head? Anybody know how to find out, if its possible????
Where are you located?
I have a 93 850 with 160,000 miles in SoCal. Willing to sell the engine cheap. It ran fine until the fule pump died last week. If you are in SoCal maybe we can work something out.

i dont know too much about 850/s70s but i do know that after the 1995 model i believe, the cars were integrated with more computers n such which replaced some of the wires and whatnot that ran thru the car. although the block and head may be the same/similar, and will probably fit, you may have a hard time getting all the electronics/computers to work. i think youd be better off finding a 93-95 block. once again, im not positive about this, but remember reading about it somewhere
The '98 70 series should be the same, that was before they got into mechanical tensioner and CVVT. If it were me swapping it out I would re-use everything original on the intake and exhaust manifolds since there were so many variations on the emissions. Between the manifolds it is all the same.
