okay here is what I have, the mil light is on code for system to rich,p0172, and evap system malfunction. Purge vsv seems ok, at time of code fuel trim was -25%. If car is idling fuel trim looks good, +/- 5%. any ideas? no "smoke" when I remove oil cap or dipstick. Fuel consumption is a little worse aswell.

oh yeah it is a 1995 850 turbo wagon.

 

Check for vaccum leaks.

 

wouldn't that cause a lean code?
i was thinking if the purge vsv stuck, perhaps it could cause a rich code
any ideas?

 

It would make it start to run lean till the computer over compensated for it making it run rich.
Check all vaccum lines really good espically the one on the end of the intake if it has one behind the power steering pump.
