Engine ticking?
Supp people, i just bought a 1995 850 GLT sedan with NA engine, 72k miles on it. WHen i open the hood i hear a ticking noise near the engine block and duno what it is. A few people are telling it is the type of gas im using, if u use regular gas it will explode in the combustion chamber earlier then using premium gas. other people are telling me its an o-ring problem near the oil pan. can Some one tell me wat the problem is. thanks.
Ticking is not from the wrong type of gas. The wrong type of gas could produce engine knock which will have a pinging noise to it as the piston bangs around.
If your getting the ticking right after startup, but it goes away as the engine warms then don't worry about it. If the ticking doesn't go away then it could be the oil pump o-rings.
