Default Expansion tank getting low often

I am not seeing any signs of my radiator is leaking. However, when I had the AC on yesterday I saw a white mist and it was smelling of coolant. Could it be my water pump is going bad????

I would personally pressure test the sytem and check for leaks. If you're not developing any pressure there's a leak somewhere. I had to do this on my 93 850 and i found out it was the expansion tank that was cracked. Remember to check around the head for leaks

I have a new expansion tank that I have to install. However, the water level sensor can't fit the new bottle. What could be the cause of the white mist that I was seeing/smelling

Sounds like the heater core is leaking. I would check it soon before it fills the inside of the car with coolant.

I second Tech suggestion.

Im in the same boat with the core and while its not leaking a lot I know that it is only a matter of time.

Do I really need a heater core since Ihave moved to the Caribbean? Is there some way I can remove it and prevent the antifreeze from leaving the radiator. Just asking

You can remove the hoses from outside and loop them together. That will work fine.
If the water pump was leaking then you would see it under the front of the car.

Sure, just get a hose and a couple of hose clamps- I'm not sure of the size but I think it is 5/8" and loop it from the "Goesinta" to the "Goesouta" on the block. Just follow the lines back from the firewall to the block and you can see where they hook up.

It may freak out your climate control unit if it is an electronic version but it will stop the leak if your heater core is bad.

OK. I got up this morning and the carpet on the driver's side is soaked.I'm going to the auto A/C shop this morning and have them remove the hoses. So I don't have to remove the dash after all then if I can adres the issues via the hoses under the hood. Can u describe to me exactly where the hoses are loated? I don't want to assume that they (the a/c guys)would know since they don't work on heaters in the Caribbean. Would this have any impact on my A/C?

It will not affect A/C at all.
If you open the hood and look at the firewall just behind the transmission there it 2 hoses going into the firewall. They are rubber and change to metal going into the firewall.

I see you are in Durham, NC...I'm in Raleigh...it's starting to get a little bit colder around here just something to think about before you tie off your heater...

Is that heater core replacement a tough job. My tank was low this week, and I've always had that 'smell' from the a/c system. I just hope it's not a head gasket. I guess I need to do a leak test?

yeah, like tech said. just bypass the heater core if you don't need heat, that what i did when mine went out and i didn't have time to swap it (so i could still drive it around)
