I recently had my 1997 Non Turbo 850 Sedan at the garage for an inspection. While it was up on the lift, the mechanic noticed what appeared to be a filter by the radiator that had a very small leak in it. It was black, but is this a coolant filter? If someone could tell me what this is I would greatly appreciate any help at all, thanks

 

If the mechanic did not know what that was RUN!!! As fast as you can. What was it leaking? What you are describing is likely the carbon filter, that should not be leaking anything, or the AC dryer which often drips condensation.
