Ok, so I think that since I have the motor not in the car. I'm going to get a gasket set from IPD and do a majority of the gaskets and seals and what not. I really want to clean the motor and make it sparkle. My question is, if I take it apart, I want to clean everything, internally too, since I wanna replace the seals that boxpin had said, I just wanna do a full blown cleaning. What should I use to clean it? Can I just pull it apart, clean everything, make it look newish, and then put it back together fine? I don't plan on replacing any of the internals since the motor only has 104k miles on it.

Well, I think over the winter I am going to just about completely dismantle the motor, clean everything realllllly good, replace all gaskets and seals and then put it back together. Anyone know what would be the best solvent to use to clean it? I was told kerosene works really good to clean it, any other thoughts?

Bump. Anyone have any thoughts? I want to do a complete tear down, replace all gaskets and seals with a good cleaning, and put it all back together. Has anyone done this? I'm not really too worried about it, the only thing is am I safe to take it apart, and put it back together with the same parts? And what about making sure it's back in time where it was before?

Any and all help will be much 'preciated.
