Default forgot to connect abs wire after changing bearing

Well like the title says, I finished up replacing the bearing, forgot to reconnect abs wire and started it up.
Now I have an abs light on even after reconnecting wire. Is this one that will reset itself after a certain amount of successful restarts or maybe disconnect battery or will I have to go to dealer
for a reset?
Thanks,
Rob

depends on the year
if you have OBD-II, then the dealer
if you have the older OBD-I system, you can fix it with a series of button pushes

I believe it's the '97.

I would disconnect the battery for 30 to 60 minutes. If that doesn't do it, drive it around for a week. If that doesn't do it, go get it scanned and reset at a Volvo shop.

Any Auto Zone will scan it for free.... possibly reset it as well.

ABS/TRACS light will reset itself if the problem is fixed. If you forgot to plug it back in and went for a drive and triggered the light, plugged it back in and nothing else is wrong, it will reset it self (assuming you unhooked the battery when messing with the plug). The car has to do a series of tests over specific MPHs for specific distances, and then the light will go off.

Not on a Volvo. I don't think any of the autozones have ABS compatible scanners. They only do the engine management system as in MIL or check engine light.
Most orielly stores do have limited ABS ability but it's limited to GM, Ford and Chrysler and not even all of those.

Well, I didn't know the limlt of what a parts store has regarding that. I put a brand new trans in a 1997 Volvo S60 3 years ago. Afterwards, the "check engine" light remained on with a transmission DTC that was set with the original transmission. No amount of driving would reset it.... I finally got out my Launch and reset it. I thought the ABS might be like that... Oh well!

I just wanted to toss my two cents in so there wouldn't be some guy pounding on a counter saying I know you can.
That and it never hurts to ask as it was only last year or so that Oreilly added the ABS scanners. Hopefully somewhere in the near future maybe OBDIII will allow one scanner to do it all. Quiet, don't wake me I'm having my favorite dream. It sucks to have half a drawer of scanners that only do this or that and I'm still not able to read them all. I'm not in a position to spend three grand or more to get one of the do all machines like OTC's or SnapOn's.

For my money the Volvo self diagnostic port is what all cars should have.

It did indeed reset itself and I never had to disconnect battery.
Thanks for the help.

I have the Snap-on Verus..... extremely pricey, and not very good with European. I recently bought an Autel for European.... and it does wonders on the Land Rovers.... I haven't had a OBD2 Volvo in here to test it on, but my peers in my networking group give it a huge thumbs up.... and it cost me $1,800.00 + tax. That is a bargain.
