Driveshaft:
- Pin punch + hammer.
- 36mm socket + breaker bar.
- Thread locker/Metal adhesive.
- New CV boots & grease.
- Torque wrench.
- 1~2 quart of Dexron-III/Mercon.
- Angle gauge (I usually eyeball it[8D]).
Hub bearing:
- E-Torx socket
I'll let others add on.
Work safe,

RE: front axle and bearing replacement
I don't know if you already bought your axles yet or not, but if not I got a really good deal on a passenger side one at Advance Auto. They had brand new (not rebuilt) axles listed at $80 a peice. Well, I bought mine online and once I got to the payment page, they had only charged me $50! Then I got an email stating that when you buy online they will find the lowest price and match it. I don't know where they found that price, but I'm glad they did! Even the guy was surprised when I picked the axle up, because they had them listed in store at $80, and he had never heard of them charging less than the instore price.

RE: front axle and bearing replacement
well I did the entire job today. both front axles, left wheel bearing and right outer tie rod end. the toughest part was getting the axles out of the hubs. the axle nuts came right off with the air gun. I hit the axle a good 20 mins with a hammer didnt budge. the i used an air chisel still wouldn't budge. luckily I was at work so I thought I could use an axle puller. well I tried 2 different vw ones and they didnt fit. Thankfully the Saab axle puller fit perfect!. I guess Swedish axles are the same.the puller popit right out with no problems. I am very pleased how the job came out. I was also suprised the the right axle was hollow from the factory. The EMPI axle was solid and a lot heavier. Its so nice to have a quiet car now that wheel bearing was so loud.
thanks for all the tips from everyone
