I'm on fuel filter number 3 in 4 months and every time I change it I get a couple days of good driving then performance gradually degrades until I can barley drive. judging by the rusty colored fuel that comes out of the back of the old filters I'm thinking I have a bunch of rust and sediment in my fuel tank.

Has anyone removed and cleaned the fuel tank on an 850? is it something that you can do without a hoist or should I just let a mechanic deal with it. It sounds simple enough but all I have are ramps, a pump jack and stands.

Haynes manual for the 850 has a section on this. If you do not have the manual, I can post the few steps. The tools you have are sufficient for this job.
