General Help!
My daughter was given a 1994 850 Turbo, but it has several issues and I would really appreciate some advice!
1- Can I assume it has an alarm/remote entry even though we didn't receive a keyless entry control. If I test it for an alarm and it goes off, how do I turn it off again?
2- Jiffy Lube says it has several oil leaks underneath including a leak forming around the turbo, how concerned should I be?
3- The odometer has not worked for the last 25,000 miles, any economical solutions?
4- The windshield wiper arm on the driver's side pulls the wiper off the windshield as it comes up, should I start bending the arm or just replace it?
There's more, but I will start here...thanks!

RE: General Help!
Hello Mr. Boycebell,
Greetings from Chicagoland.
As to your questions:
1- Can I assume it has an alarm/remote entry even though we didn't receive a keyless entry control. If I test it for an alarm and it goes off, how do I turn it off again?
A: I could not tell, I never had such a fancy device.
2- Jiffy Lube says it has several oil leaks underneath including a leak forming around the turbo, how concerned should I be?
A: 850 is notorious for developing oil leaks at certain locations, but small oil leak under the turbocharger is normal, I talked to a Volvo dealer tech and even he says there's nothing they do to stop it, it's that negligible. For servicing your daughter's 850, I wouldn't use Jiffy Lube for anything more than oil change (I don't even trust their oil change for Volvo).
3- The odometer has not worked for the last 25,000 miles, any economical solutions?
A: I think there is a post on the forum, but I can't remember where.
4- The windshield wiper arm on the driver's side pulls the wiper off the windshield as it comes up, should I start bending the arm or just replace it?
A: Moderator Mr. Tech has a post on the forum about this problem. I myself used a half washer (a washer cut in half) and put it under the arm holding nut to change the arm's installation angle.
I hope this helps for your starters.
Regards,
JPN

Standing outside of your car, lock your driver's side door using your key. Walk over to the front of your car. Do you see a flashing red LED near the center of your windshield on the top of your dash?
To test alarm. Roll down driver's side window before locking your driver's side door. Now, reach in and attempt to open the door using inside handle.
To turn off alarm. I have no idea. More info here in on-line owner's manual...
