Default Hazard lights come on during hard highway acceleration.

Hi All,

I believe I mentioned I had this problem in another thread I started when I had lots of stuff and junk going on. I did 500km on the highway this weekend, cruise control set to 110km/h most of the way. On a couple of straight roads I decided to drive a little faster ( 140km/h to 150km/h ) as before the hazard lights on the instrument panel started to flash so I backed off the throttle. Something new happened this time though, I let the cruise control go back to 110km/h but every now and then, mainly when it was accelerating or going up hills the hazards would flash.

I've looked on the forums and recalled something I was told once. I know that the hazard switch/ relay can go and cause these problems, but only under highway pulls? That seems a little strange to me.. I was once told by a friend who owned a merc that the wheel speed sensor or wheel position sensor was faulty and when he was on the highway and tried to give it the boot the hazards would flash and the computer would cut power to the engine. So I'm thinking maybe this is what is wrong with my car. There is a speedo checker on the highway I was driving on that said max speed displayed 117km/h, I got a reading of 115km/h when cruise control was set to 110km/h. On the was back again CC set to 110km/h I got a reading of 104km/h.

Anyone else experienced this problem? Nothing quite like electric gremlins.

Thanks everyone.

winston..
