Default Heater core DONE

Hey I replaced the heater core on my 95 850 Sportswagon yesterday. I’m pretty jacked. Wasn’t as tough as I had expected. Easier than replacing the blower motor on my old 240.

Of course I got coolant all over the floor, but I managed to mop it up quickly. Took the drivers seat out to free up some room. I was getting the sweet smell of coolant every time I turned the dial to heat. Now its just heat. Yeah

I can tell my co workers and they dont really give a rip, so I posted my sucess here... Dave

Way to go Dave. Things are usually easier than we think. Most of us just don't try because we don't do it everyday.

Gotta love the forums. I often just print out threads that I find of interest then start to explore. Most times the car goes back together, sometimes not. See "850 cranks but wont start".

Nice work, Dave. I've done a few and know exactly what you went through. Volvo design for the win! Not too many other cars have that easy access to the heater core.

Oh yeah!! I've done both jobs; first one is 1-2 hours (taking your time..) but the latter is at least 8 hrs!!

Yep, someone was really thinking when they designed the heater core mounting on the 850 (or maybe they just knew it would fail too soon.. )

Another fix you can do. Seems to break where the metal bars cross the foam.
