Help with Codes P0172 and P0302..
My 97 Volvo 850 Glt Runs fine but it seems that when I take off from a stop it will missfire. I ran it for codes today but Im stumped with codes p0172 p0302.. The guy at the auto parts seems to think its an injector is bad.. Any help on this..

I'm sure someone else will have a better (more knowledgable) description of what to check for.

What do I need for a full tune up? Im figuring plugs,cap,rotor, wires ( those look to have been changed before) fuel filter.
It just seems wierd because the car will idle fine, drive fine if Im easy when I give it gas but the moment I give it any Im getting the annoying misfire.
If you look closely at the wires if they are OEM there will be a date on the wires in either Yellow or white writing.
Yes do the Cap,rotor,wires,fuel filterand plugs.
My white one did the same thing when I first bought it.
Acutally so did the yellow one.
Both had orignial wires on it.

I would get allOEM parts.The 97 GLT is a low pressure Turbo, so you will want the turbo plugs. They run about $30.00 for a set. If your dealer charges much more than that try some of the links pinned to the top of this forum. I've bought tune up parts from volvoparts.com:

Would buying the tune up parts at Autozone be ok? THey have a set of Bosch plat plugs and wires at my local auto zone. I just hate to wait7 days for these parts thru mail order..

You will not get OEM at any place other than the dealer or fcpgroton type places. Autozone, Advanced, NAPA etc will not have OEM. When I order from fcpgroton on Wednesday, I have my stuff on Friday at the latest. That's not bad. If I really wanted to do it this weekend, I would just go to the dealer. Would only cost you another $10.00 give or take a few dollars.
At volvoparts.com the plugs are $30, wires $65, cap $30 and rotor $18. That's $143, plus you will pay some shipping. The prices at fcpgroton are almost identical, but shipping would be more from CT. If you live in California there are places you might be able to get them cheaper too.

The car started right up and seem to even idle a lil more smoother then before. I did a 20 mins test drive and no miss. The true test will come tommorow when I take it to work.

It doesn't hurt to support your local dealer, to some extent. Make friends with the service advisors and parts guys. It can pay off later. They are a wealth of information. I would guess that most of the info here is directly or indirectly from the dealers.

well the car still has a problem, its not missing like before but its got like a Jolt to the car almost like the car is turned off for a second and then turned back on.. Other then this occasional jolt its running good..

You could perhaps buy some minor parts from the dealer once/while, and then buy major parts from on-line vendors. I do agree with Tripleb that if you become friends with parts/service dept you can learn a good deal of expertise.

SVT, this post is old, but it sounds like the o-rings on your injectors are leaking. Link below to get a descripton on how to service your injectors, it's fairly easy but you have to be careful and replace ALL of the parts you can. It's not expensive, either, just time consuming.

Even if you have low miles on the car, the rubber has gotten really old. Don't try to clean the injectors at home, find a shop with a good pressure washer. You're only going to need to do this a couple of times in the life of the car. Your fuel economy may jump up, too. Worth it!
