Default Help! Engine wont fire now after spark plug change...

So today me and my pops went out and changed the spark plugs in my 1995 850 GLT. The car has at least 200k miles on it and to my surprise....(and his) the original spark plugs where still in the car all corroded. Well I changed them out with some bosch platinum + plugs that we gapped correctly.

Now my engine turns but doesnt fire? Is it just plugs that would keep it from starting completely? it was starting okay with those old corroded volvo plugs (one of them finally developed a misfire which prompted me to check and change them)

Did you forget to plug something back in, like the coil wire maybe?

Put old ones back and see if it fires. If it does then new plugs are wrong. If it doesn't fire then you may check wires.

Yea if it was the same plugs you can be sure it's the same wires too. You probably cracked them all up. They are about 15 years old now. Change the cap too.

Just cause the plugs say Volvo on them does not mean they are the original. I buy only Volvo OEM plugs when I replace mine. I just have trouble believing the plugs would last 200K miles. It's possible I guess though. Check to see if the plug wires have a date stamp on them. I would definitely make sure you got the right plugs and replace wires, distributor cap and rotor.

I thought about that afterwards since the car was bought from a nice volvo dealer ship. Im sure that they havent gotten a tune up on it since they had it which was in 2003 when it had at least 135k on it (The odometer was broken on purchase). Maybe the dealership happen to tune it up before we bought it but it hasnt been tuned up at all since then (my mother just drove it around without fixing anything)

I have put in a New starter/Radiator/Brake pads/ within the last 6 months. I guess I'm going to do all the stuff you named with a fcp kit...then when I get some more loot the PCV system (pretty sure its clogged)...

I want to get my baby to stage Zero!

You're better off selling your car and getting a turbo instead of putting money into the GLT.

+1

If your GLT is NA, sell it and get a T-5 (Turbo)

Default car won't start

You have screwed up the plug wire firing order. You may also have inadvetently pulled the coil wire loose from the dist cap.

The firing order is 1,2,3,4,5 from the timing belt side

The Haynes maual is WRONG the distributor order is 3
5
1
4
2

I dont think we changed the spark plug order. we did each one , one at a time. otherwise yes that would have made the most sense. Its just been sitting and my battery is now dead it wont hold a charge. I get paid on the 15th then I'll be able to tow it to a mechanic...

How many miles and what condition? Less than 150k and good to excellent condition that would be a good deal. They did make the 98 S70 T5 in a five speed. My son has one and that's a nice car if you want a factory five speed.
