help figuring out how to find my Volvo 850 a new home
Hi everyone
I am ready to part with Volvina - my maroon 1995 Volvo 850 GLT 4 door sedan.
My father bought her in 1995 and I got her in 2014. The odometer is stuck at 182,000 probably about 10 years ago. She's in fairly good shape - my father took great care of the car, and I've had her repaired and serviced regularly over the years since I've had it. I live in New York City and just use the car for weekend trips out of town. For the past 6 months, there is a slow anti-freeze leak and my mechanic couldn't find the source so I drive with a bottle of anti-freeze and fill it every 100 miles or so. I started to not trust driving the car long-distances anymore - which is the point of why I had it - and then just recently while parked on the street, a truck swiped the front left wheel well so it now needs more repairs. It's time for me to let her go.
I'm emotionally attached to this car so I would like to find her a good eco-friendly next venture. Either a Volvo enthusiast who wants the car for parts or a Volvo enthusiast who wants to bring the car back to life. Or other ideas for how to get rid of the car that is not just contributing to landfill.
A Cuban friend just took the automatic locking mechanism out to bring to Cuba to repair a car there and the exterior paint is peeling but otherwise it's in pretty good shape.
Any thoughts? Ideas? How to go about doing this? Places old volvos go to die??
This is the first and only car I've ever owned so I'm just learning now how to get rid of it in a way that feels good.
The car is driveable still but wouldn't trust to drive it too far.
