help please knock sensor code bank 2
My 94 850 turbo just coded a knock sensor bank two code. My car has had a slight ping since I bought it in march I use 93 octane gas not sure whats making the ping. I put a new cap rotor and bosch platinum plugs in it in june ping never went away. Is the knock sensor bank 2 the rear knock sensor? Is the knock sensor what I need to replace or is something else the problem. Also my cat has had a smell to it if that meens anything. Any help with this matter would be great.
It is more then likely the platinum plugs. These white blocks only like OEM plugs and Copper plugs. I had the same issue with the platinum plugs in my 850 and got the same code. I changed the plugs out for Champion Copper Plugs and the car has been great ever since.
94 has OBD-I; see attached. No tools/testers/equipment are required.
I would give a full tune-up; see my 1st & 2nd replies at:

You need these plugs: Champion RC7GYC x 5
FCP Groton is a great vendor for OEM parts and their shipping is comparatively fast. If you've installed non-OEM ignition components, I would throw them away.

Some 94 Turbos are OBD-II compatible, FYR.
EDIT: Another FYR for the knock sensor testing if you are interested. Some tests may/may not require Volvo tester/breakout box.
Digital multimeter is now a must in a home mechanic's tool box. You do not need a $500 Fluke; all you need is $20 Craftsman meter.

With the test leed in hole 6 I get nothing at all no blinks. With test leed in 2 i get the rear knock sensor code. I held the test button for five seconds and the led will not stay lit so i cant clear the code.
